After all, CA will eventually run out of historical periods.might as well give it a shot My main concern, though, is the trench warfare: charging against a machine gun barrage promises to delive THE most frustrating experience ever made in a Total War game. Wouldn't really work for starters how world war 1 worked it was primarily about battles spanning over miles of territory and thousands of troops pushing into other trenches wave after wave across huge borders and that they didn't fight as one big group like you see total wars so good at but more spread out across the hole border, thats not even the dicey part next up is naval warfare/convoy warfare and the hardest part for CA would be the war in the sky but let's start with naval ww1 featured hundreds of ships attacking other ships and here's where it gets tricky, convoy raiding: raiding in total war is easy because ships were usually unprotected so just go to a trade route with a big group of ships all sticking together and set them on raiding stance, boom done convoys are being raided but in ww1 with the invention of submarines could be an interesting concept to tw but when you look at not only the fact that convoys had light amounts of protection from ships like anti sub destroyers and sometimes cruisers so every convoy raid would have to be an actual battle and keep in mind that thousands of convoys and tones upon tones of cargo and supplies were being sunk across the entire map its just too ambitious even if ca made that work which I feel like would be insanely difficult no players gunna even auto resolve that many times every turn is just wishful thinking but now we get to air superiority managing planes flying around heavy battles especially ones like the battle of Britain where they had thousands of planes fighting its just too ambitious and not really creative assembly's profession or talent at all Hoping that it will somehow turn into a good game if you add enough mods to it. That's the only reason people still try to make it work and played it for so long. It's absolutely insane how tech trees and UI and everything was perfect, and then Rome 2 came in. I still remember back in 2014ish thinking holy shit, why can't we have Shogun 2s polish combined with Rome 2's setting? What a waste that was. Compared to Shogun 2 which was a polished masterpiece where they did everything right, all Rome 2 really had going for it was the setting. Rome 2 just had a bad UI that breaks immersion and feels placeholder, a worthless political system, broken tech and character trees that are hard to navigate, limp combat with no mass and no unit cohesion, battle AI that charges your pikes head on with cavalry, and a campaign AI that cheats like crazy. It's like even the Rome 2 music is not enough to prove your point about how "good" of a game it is. Also it's kind of ironic that you use Rome 1 music while making all these points. I still feel Rome 2 is a flawed game at it's core and no quantity of mods can truly fix it.
